Zwangerschapsbola gebruiken? Waar is dat goed voor?

Heb je er al eens van gehoord? Een bola of zwangerschapsbelletje? Waarschijnlijk als je het ziet of hoort da komt het je wel bekend voor. Dit is namelijk een ketting met aan het eind een belletje ter hoogte van de buik bij zwangere vrouwen. In het belletje zit een balletje dat rinkelt bij bewegingen. Benamingen die voor deze ketting worden gebruikt zijn ook wel zwangerschapsbelletje of zwangerschapsbola. In dit artikel vind je meer informatie waar deze voor is bedoeld en of er ook eventuele nadelen aan het gebruik van een zwangerschapsbola verbonden zijn.

Waar is een zwangerschapsbola voor?

De bola is bedoeld voor de baby. Als je 10 weken zwanger bent dan gaat je baby geluidssignalen oppikken. De zintuigen van de baby beginnen al enkele weken hiervoor steeds beter te werken, maar vanaf week 20 tot week 24 wordt het gehoor steeds beter van de baby. De baby gaat in deze periode op geluidsprikkels reageren. Het geluid van de bola geeft de baby een rustgevend gevoel. Later na de bevalling kan het geluid van de bola worden gebruikt om te baby rustig te krijgen bij het slapen bijvoorbeeld. De bola kan bij de baby in de wieg worden gehangen en wanneer de baby onrustig wordt kan het rinkelende geluid van de bola hem of haar weer kalmeren. De baby herkend dit geluid en dit geeft hem of haar een vertrouwd gevoel.

Overige redenen voor een bola

Er zijn ook vrouwen die het mooi vinden om een zwangerschapsbola te dragen. Sommigen draaien hem dan ook al vanaf het moment dat ze zwanger zijn. Aan het begin van de zwangerschap heeft de bola echter nog geen positief effect op de baby. De baby kan namelijk nog niet horen en herkend het geluid van de bola dus nog niet. Pas echt vanaf het moment dat de zintuigen bij de baby gaan werken dan herkennen zij het geluid. Sommige baby’s kunnen al geluiden gaan opmerken als de moeder 17 weken zwanger is.

Daarnaast laat een bola zien dat je zwanger bent. Bij sommige vrouwen is het twijfelachtig of ze zwanger zijn na bijvoorbeeld 20 weken. Door een bola te dragen wordt deze twijfel bij iedereen weg gehaald en is het zeker dat je zwanger bent.

Zijn er nadelen?

Er bestaat een discussie waarbij wordt gezegd dat een zwangerschapsbelletje een stuitligging tot gevolg kan hebben en in dat geval leidt tot keizersnede bij de bevalling. Er wordt namelijk gezegd dat de baby het geluid van het belletje opzoekt. Als je deze bel hoog blijft dat dan blijft de baby met het hoofd omhoog in de baarmoeder liggen. Bij een normale bevalling draait de baby voor de bevalling met het hoofd omlaag. Een bola kan in dit geval een stuitligging veroorzaken. Daarom wordt geadviseerd om het belletje laag op de buik te laten hangen.
